"I took the guy's sunglasses and bayonet; figured he wasn't going to need them anymore..." -a recently returned US Marine, talking about the man he shot 10 times from 3 feet away
guys have backed me up on the strange jealousy/sympathy chemicals we release when hearing stories that other guys our age have about war. we all want to know how we'd react and what we'd do with the real chance to kill and be killed. last night my buddy chaz's friend jeff joined us at the bar. jeff just got back from iraq. the stories he told... christ. definitely puts things in perspective. yeah, you know, all stressed about finding a legal job for the summer. oh, gotcha, i was stressed when that bomb went off two feet from my jeep and eight guys with guns shot out our tires... one thing this place lacks is characters. at other schools i've attended, worked at, and visited, there existed blatant stereotypes: the hippie guy, the dirtbike-motocross girl, the DJ, the creepy-goth-freak, the thespian. not so here. i miss that. gonna try some more cooking tonight. today's focus: "the promise" - by When in Rome, rugby game on Sat. @ lincoln park, buying socks for said game, not fucking going anywhere tonight
