"Yeah, talk about 'mislaid' plans, guys..." -me and Zach, property law review @ 12/8

on the subject of grace: my friend Colin, a 30-something philosophy-type drummer, always told me: "try to handle all things with grace." and that reminder was felt when, of all the strange times to think about it, i was seeing bits and pieces of "Bridget Jones's Diary" the other day. the fight scene in the street. between mark darcy and daniel cleaver. at the end of their pathetic brawl (rugby guys, you know what i'm saying) bridget bends to the ground over that asshole daniel and berates mark. mark, who'd just kicked daniels ass over not only a long-standing blood feud but also bridget's honor, looked surprised at bridget's dismissal. but all he said was "Right, well, it appears I've been laboring under false pretenses... forgive me." (i don't have the exact fucking script, but that's 95% close to what he said). NOW, MY POINT is that most men, especially the ones i know, would have reacted completely differently. it would've been "What?! Are you fucking kidding me? You're treating HIS wounds?! I got in a fight for YOU and you blah, blah, blah." but mark. mark handled it with grace. he showed restraint. and RESTRAINT, i believe, is what men find as the most impressive use of power. restraint and grace.

anyway, lots to do here today. barn work, errands related to the horses and house, more unpacking from St. Thomas, and some plotting/planning for this winter break of mine.

hope all is well with you all. take some naps... we all deserve it!

today's focus: peppermint hot chocolate (what a good idea), enough crossword puzzles to keep me happy for ages, AMAZING leftovers, the mystery of who/what the hell was in our garage last night
